A thrilling week of padel came to an end at the Allianz Cloud with victories for Agustín Tapia - Arturo Coello (#1) and Ari Sánchez - Andrea Ustero (#3), who ended the European swing of the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour by showing once again that they are currently the two most in-form teams.

The Golden Boys had to come from behind against Juan Lebrón - Leo Augsburger (#3) to claim their 12th major title of the season, further extending their lead over Ale Galán - Fede Chingotto (#2). Meanwhile, Sánchez - Ustero strengthened their position at No. 2 in the FIP Race by defeating Bea González - Paula Josemaría.

Sánchez - Ustero Continue Their Winning Run

The Spanish pair once again showcased the level that has seen them lift three of the last four titles, results that make them serious contenders to dethrone Gemma Triay - Delfi Brea (#1) at the top of the FIP Ranking during the decisive stretch of the season.

Despite trailing 2-5 in the opening set, they recovered to turn the match around, force a tie-break and eventually take it in front of a fully engaged crowd. In the second set, their level continued to rise until they sealed a 6-3 victory, with Sánchez showing great solidity and Ustero once again displaying her great smash.

With this victory, Sánchez moves level with Alejandra Salazar and Gemma Triay on 58 titles, joining the select group of active players with the most trophies to their name. The result also means the head-to-head between the two teams is now 4-4 in 2026.

“I wasn’t feeling good in the first set. The change came in our attitude. I play alongside a world No. 1 who keeps reminding me that even when things aren’t going our way, the one thing that cannot fail is our attitude. We stuck to that plan and things went incredibly well in the second set. Now it’s time to enjoy the victory,” Ustero said after the final.

“It’s incredible to finish the European swing like this, putting together such a great tournament. I want to congratulate Andrea because she started with bad feelings and then ended up playing all over the court by herself,” said Sánchez.

This latest title gives Sánchez - Ustero another 2,000 FIP Race points as a team and sees them head into the decisive stretch of the season at No. 2 in the standings, with two Majors, one P1 and the Finals still to come. They now sit 1,980 points behind the world No. 1s, with 6,500 points still up for grabs.

A Fourth Title in a Row for the Golden Boys

Meanwhile, the world No. 1s did what they do best: win. This time, however, they were made to work harder than usual by an outstanding Lebrón - Augsburger (#3), who had reached the final after defeating Ale Galán - Fede Chingotto (#2) in the semi-finals following a remarkable comeback from 6-0 down in the opening set.

The Golden Boys came up against Leburger’s explosive start, as they secured an early break and took control of the scoreboard with a 6-4 opening set, with the difference-maker being the number of winners they produced (33-20).

They did not let up in the second set and even had three break points at 1-1 (0-40). However, Tapia - Coello held firm to save the game, which proved crucial in sparking their comeback. Shortly afterwards, they secured a break of their own to level the match with a 6-3 set. In the decider, they were clearly superior, winning the key points to seal a 6-2 victory and complete the comeback in one hour and 57 minutes.

“It was a very difficult match against Leo and Juan. They played at an incredible level. In the first set and for much of the second, they played better than us and found solutions. The key to the comeback was to keep fighting and dreaming of the title, and in the end we managed to produce our best padel,” Coello said after the final.

“Saving that 0-40 was crucial. We ran, we fought and the game went our way. That gave us the boost to keep fighting despite reaching this third consecutive final at our physical limit. I’m very happy with this title and with this European swing. Now it’s time to enjoy it and get some rest,” said Tapia.

Following this victory, they add another 2,000 points to their FIP Race tally as a team and pull further clear of Chingalán, who will collect only 720 points after their semi-final defeat. If they maintain this winning run, Tapia - Coello could secure their status as world No. 1s for a fourth consecutive season in the coming weeks.

The Tour now heads to Kuwait from Monday 26 October to Saturday 31 October. The tournament will be crucial in the battle for the No. 1 spot in the FIP Ranking and qualification for the Finals, which will feature the 16 highest-ranked men and women in the FIP Race.
