An unforgettable night for Leygue - Moya

The sport owed (at least) two magical nights for Leygue and Moya at the Philippe Chatrier. They knocked out David Gala - Enzo Jensen (#21) in the first round, but this Wednesday they made a big effort to defeat Gutiérrez - Esbri (#13) in front of a passionate crowd.

The encounter was decided in three sets (6-2, 4-6, 7-5) after a two hours and 23 minutes battle. Guided by Mati Diaz ‘The Warrior’ on the bench, they delivered a total of 76 winners, 46 of them coming from smashes. With this win, Leygue will be the first French player competing in this round in a Major tournament, where Franco Stupaczuk - Jon Sanz (#4) await.

“I want to thank all the people that supported me when I was suffering after the injury. I dealt with really bad moments alongside my family. I’m going to enjoy this moment of my career. I feel loads of emotions, let’s keep dreaming!”, said the local player, who spent eight months recovering from an almost complete Aquilles tendon rupture.

Lucky Losers in the Round of 16

Kurz-Ortiz have seized their opportunity in this tournament. This Tuesday, they got eliminated in the qualifiers with a lose against Lorena Vano - Carmen Castillón (6-4, 2-6, 2-6). However, they were selected at the Lucky Losers draw after the retirement of Tamara Icardo - Claudia Jensen, No. 6 seeds who didn’t make their debut due to an injury of the Valencian player.
