The NEWGIZA Premier Padel P2 tournament wrapped up today at the NEWGIZA Sports Club, bringing a week of remarkable padel action to an exciting conclusion. The tournament’s final day showcased top-tier performances, leaving fans on the edge of their seats and highlighting the high-level talent across both the men’s and women’s competitions.
In the women’s final, third-seeded Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo (#3) delivered an exceptional performance, defeating Ale Salazar and Jessica Castelló (#4) with a final score of 6-4, 6-2. Ortega and Araujo’s victory came in under two hours, marking their second title of the season. The first set was tightly contested, featuring break and counter-break exchanges, but Ortega and Araujo’s consistency on serve saw them secure it 6-4. In the second set, Salazar and Castelló took an early 2-0 lead; however, the Spanish-Portuguese duo rallied with an impressive six-game streak, sealing the set at 6-2.
In the men’s final, top seeds Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas(#1) defeated the Javier Garrido and Lucas Bergamini (#4) with a score of 6-3, 7-6 in less more than 2 hours match. Stupaczuk contributed 29 winners, while Yanguas showcased precision, committing only five unforced errors despite absorbing a large portion of play. With this victory, Stupaczuk successfully defended his title in Cairo, having previously won it in 2022 alongside Pablo Lima.
With these victories, Carlos Pozzoni becomes only the second coach – after Jorge Martinez - to achieve the remarkable feat of guiding both champion pairs in the men’s and women’s draws to victory in the same Premier Padel tournament.

The padel season continues with several prestigious tournaments on the calendar. Next week, players will compete in the FIP World Championships in Qatar, held from October 28 to November 2. Following this, the Dubai Premier Padel P1 will take place from November 4 to 10, immediately succeeded by the Kuwait Premier Padel P1 from November 11 to 17. With only four Premier Padel tournaments remaining, each of these events will be pivotal for defining the FIP Race Ranking heading into the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Finals in Barcelona.
