Eighteen-year-old Coquito Zamora, recently crowned FIP Junior Euro Padel Cup champion with Spain, and Pablo Sánchez secured a standout victory on the opening day in Málaga.

Coquito Zamora and Pablo Sánchez Vicente provided the headline performance as the Andalucía Málaga Premier Padel P1 began with a full day of men’s first-round action.

Competing as wild cards, Zamora and Sánchez defeated Pol Hernández and Guille Collado 7-6(4), 6-4 in one hour and 27 minutes, demonstrating impressive composure against two more experienced opponents.

The result marked another important step in the development of 18-year-old Zamora, one of Spain’s most exciting young talents and a recent winner of the FIP Junior Euro Padel Cup 2026 with the Spanish national team.

Qualifiers Santi Pineda and Diego García also claimed one of the day’s most notable results, overcoming Javi Ruiz and Xisco Gil 7-5, 6-2. José Solano and Ramiro Pereyra continued their run from qualifying with a 7-6(4), 6-4 victory over Gonzalo Rubio and Fernández Lancha.

The longest match of the day saw Lucho Capra and Luis Hernández battle for three hours and nine minutes to defeat Fede Mouriño and Marc Quílez 6-4, 6-7(6), 7-6(8). Álex Chozas and Tino Libaak were also pushed to three sets before beating wild cards Marcos González and Martin Abud 6-2, 3-6, 6-0.

Elsewhere, David Gala and Enzo Jensen, Goenaga and Manu Castaño, Pablo García and Pablo Lijó, Sanyo Gutiérrez and Maxi Sánchez Blasco, and Jose Diestro and Ignacio Piotto were among the pairs to secure their places in the next round.

The action continues on Tuesday, when several seeded teams will make their tournament debuts. The women’s draw will feature the first appearance of the new partnership between Alejandra Alonso and Marina Guinart, while Jon Sanz and Coki Nieto, and Javi Leal and Fran Guerrero, will be among the leading men’s pairs entering the competition.
