The Miami Premier Padel P1 moved into full speed on day three as the Round of 32 concluded across both draws, marking the some of the firsts matches in the women’s competition and the second round in the men’s. It was a day defined by the long-awaited debut of the top seeds, a series of notable upsets in the men’s draw, and the presence of global tennis star Carlos Alcaraz, who once again made his way to the stands to witness the world’s best padel players in action.
The men’s draw delivered the biggest headlines, with several seeded pairs falling at the first hurdle. Seeds No.8, No.9 and No.10 were all eliminated. One of the standout matches of the day featured the return of Pablo Cardona, back on court after months sidelined through injury. Partnering Javi Leal, the pair faced one of the sport’s most exciting young prospects in Manu Castaño, who alongside Iñigo Jofre produced a high-intensity three-set battle. After edging a tense second-set tiebreak, Castaño and Jofre powered through the decider to claim a 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 victory and secure their place in the Round of 16.
Another breakthrough performance came from rising talent David Gala, who, together with Pablo García, stunned Edu Alonso and Juan Tello in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. The surprises did not stop there. Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini also exited earlier than expected, falling convincingly to Mario del Castillo and Ignacio Vilariño, 6-4, 6-1, in one of the final matches of the day.
In contrast, the top seeds delivered composed and commanding performances. Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto, Mike Yanguas and Franco Stupaczuk, as well as Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger all progressed with authority, laying down an early statement as the tournament begins to take shape. Their matches unfolded under the watchful eye of Carlos Alcaraz, whose presence added further star power to an already high-profile day at the tournament.
On the women’s side, the Round of 32 was completed with fewer matches but no shortage of intensity. One of the most anticipated clashes saw Aranzazu Osoro and Vicky Iglesias face Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga in a matchup between well-known rivals. Caldera and Goenaga held their nerve in the key moments to secure a 7-6, 6-3 win and advance to the next round.
Meanwhile, Marina Guinart and Vero Virseda brought an end to the tournament’s remaining local hopes, delivering a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory over Dubins and Morga to close out the day.
With the Round of 16 now set, anticipation continues to build in Miami. The level is rising, the margins are tightening, and with the tournament moving deeper into its decisive stages, the Miami Beach crowd can expect even more drama as the race towards the title intensifies.
