The Philippe Chatrier was close to a complete sell-out for a semifinal day at the Alpine Paris Major Premier Padel, where Martina Calvo and Claudia Fernández proved that age is just a number. The promising duo, aged 18 and 20 respectively, produced a performance to remember, defeating world No. 1s to become the youngest pair in history to reach a Major final, where they will face Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero.

In the men’s draw, the top two ranked pairs got the job done. Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello continued their love affair with Roland Garros against Leo Augsburger and Juan Lebrón, No. 3 seeds. Meanwhile, Chingalán closed the day with a convincing straight-sets victory over Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno, who were unable to push them to the limit as they did in the quarter-finals of last week’s Madrid P1.

Calvo - Fernández, the youngest ever to reach a Major final

They fear no one. And once again, they proved it on one of the most astonishing stages of the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour. Calvo and Fernández added another milestone to their rapidly growing list of achievements, becoming the youngest pair ever to reach a Major final. They are just 38 years old between them, but they compete as if they had been playing together against the world’s best for their entire lives.

In another meeting with the world No. 1s and defending champions, Triay and Brea, they produced a solid performance to settle the match in 1 hour and 49 minutes, winning 6-4, 6-2. They now lead 2-1 their head-to-head against the pair coached by Seba Nerone and have reached their third final in just four tournaments.

“We are very prepared to beat any pair. I think that if we focused on the points, the stage and external things, that would work against us. We tried to find that feeling of playing well and doing it together, and we managed to achieve it,” Calvo said at the post-match press conference.

This Sunday, the Wonderkids will face Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero (#3) in a first-ever meeting. The Catalan duo made a comeback against Martita Ortega and Sofia Araújo (5-7, 6-4, 6-1), who had previously eliminated Perlamita in the quarter-finals. Sánchez and Ustero have now reached their fifth final of the season — their second in Majors — and will fight for what would be their third title, following their victories in Riyadh and Valencia.

Paris set for its third Superclásico

Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello (#1) didn’t fail to their appointment in the Alpine Paris Major final, making it four consecutive appearances. The duo coached by Gustavo Pratto defeated two title contenders, Juan Lebrón - Leo Augsburger (#3), in the quickest match of the day, winning 7-5, 6-3 in just one hour and seven minutes.

The world No. 1s once again demonstrated their efficiency against this team, as they haven’t conceded a single break in their last four encounters. Their head-to-head record this season now stands at 7-1 in favour of the Golden Boys, who have still not lost a single match at Roland Garros since they began playing together.

This Sunday, the Philippe Chatrier will host a Superclásico for the third consecutive year. Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto once again defeated the pair they beat last week in Madrid: Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno, who will become the new world No. 4 team from the Rotterdam P2 onwards. Jorge Martínez’s duo produced their best level to seal a 7-5, 6-2 victory and set up another clash against their biggest rivals.

Chingotto will be looking to break his Paris curse, having reached every final since the tournament was first held but still being unable to lift the title. It will be the 39th final between the two pairs in their overall history, and their 11th this season. At stake are 2,000 valuable FIP Race points that could prove decisive in the battle to finish the year at the top of the rankings.
