The first Premier Padel tournament ever held in South Africa crowned Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea in the women's draw and Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto in the men's. The women's world No.1 pair and the men's world No.2 duo came through two sensational finals, both decided in third-set tie-breaks, to cap an unforgettable week for the circuit in Pretoria.

The two young pairs making their first-ever Premier Padel final came agonisingly close to pulling off the upset. Martina Calvo and Claudia Fernández, as well as Javi Leal and Fran Guerrero, pushed their opponents all the way. In both finals they recovered from a set down, only to fall in the decisive tie-break. Calvo and Fernández saw their dream slip away in a dramatic 6-2, 6(5)-7, 7-6(4) defeat to Triay and Brea, while Leal and Guerrero went down 6-2, 5-7, 7-6(7) to 'Chingalán'.

Both the women's No.1 pair and Galán and Chingotto were pushed to the limit, but experience, composure and proven pedigree ultimately tipped the balance in their favour as the SunBet Arena in Pretoria exploded after two unforgettable finals. There will undoubtedly be more opportunities for Calvo and Fernández, who reached the final in their very first tournament together. The same goes for Leal and Guerrero who, despite contesting their maiden Premier Padel final, have already lifted several CUPRA FIP Tour trophies.

FITH TITLE OF THE SEASON FOR GEMMA-DELFI AND SIXTH FOR 'CHINGALÁN'

At the top of the FIP rankings, Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea further extended their lead by claiming their fifth title of the season. Galán and Chingotto, meanwhile, returned to winning ways with their sixth trophy of the year after a run of five consecutive tournaments won by world No.1s Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia.

The circuit now heads straight to London for the first Premier Padel tournament ever staged in the British capital. The London Premier Padel P1 main draw gets underway on Tuesday at the iconic Olympia London in Kensington, where the world's best players are ready to deliver another week of world-class padel for the sport's rapidly growing fanbase in the United Kingdom and millions more watching around the globe.
