The historic first edition of the London Premier Padel P1 is enjoying an outstanding atmosphere at the spectacular Olympia London. A week worthy of the very best padel now has the perfect finale in store, with a star-studded line-up for the semi-finals. 

From 12:00 local time, Olympia will come alive as seven of the eight highest-ranked pairs in the draw take to court: all four of the top women’s pairs and Paquito Navarro-Martín Di Nenno (#5) alongside the world’s top three men’s teams. It is hard to ask for much more from the London event in its debut edition, which has also welcomed a host of sporting stars over the past two days, including footballers Alexia Putellas, Riccardo Calafiori and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

MARTINA AND CLAUDIA AIM TO REPEAT THE FEAT

Youngsters Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo (#4) continue to make huge strides in only their second tournament as a partnership. On Friday, they defeated Icardo-Jensen 6-3, 6-4 to reach their second consecutive semi-final and once again dream of a place in the final, just as they did on their debut together in Pretoria last week.

Standing in their way once again will be Bea González and Paula Josemaría (#2), who will be looking for revenge after booking their place in the semi-finals with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 win over Castelló-Talaván in the quarter-finals.

On the other side of the draw, world number ones Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea continue to look imperious and are enjoying one of their finest spells of the season. They underlined their status on Friday with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Araújo-Ortega, producing a flawless third set.

Champions at the last two Premier Padel events, Gemma and Delfi are looking to extend their winning run in London. First, however, they must overcome Ariana Sánchez and Andrea Ustero (#3), who are back in the semi-finals after missing the last two tournaments. They defeated Caldera-Goenaga 7-6, 6-4 in the quarter-finals and will now contest their seventh consecutive semi-final, not counting the events they missed in Pretoria and Andalucía.

PAQUITO AND DI NENNO KNOCK ON THE DOOR AGAIN

In the men’s draw, fifth seeds Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno had to dig deep to overcome Edu Alonso and Aimar Goñi, eventually prevailing 7-5, 6-7, 6-3.

The win continues their excellent run since reuniting, with the pair now through to their third semi-final in their last four tournaments. They are chasing their first final of the season, but standing in their way are none other than world number ones Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, who gave Curro Cabeza and Mariano González no chance, winning 6-1, 6-2.

The ‘Golden Boys’, who missed out on the final in Pretoria, are now targeting what would be their 13th final of the season.

The semi-final action will finish in style with another showdown between ‘Chingalán’ and Lebrón-Augsburger. 'Ale' and 'Chingo', champions in Pretoria, are in sensational form after sweeping aside Momo González and Lucas Campagnolo 6-0, 6-1.

They will face 'El Lobo' and Augsburger, who showed great maturity to come through a tough quarter-final against Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz, winning 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.
