The Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour will feature three consecutive weeks of competition from Tuesday 29 September until Sunday 18 October. Rotterdam, Düsseldorf and Milan will host two P2 events and one P1 respectively. Three important stops on the calendar before the final stretch of the season, when the FIP No. 1 ranking and qualification for the Finals will be at stake with the Kuwait and Mexico Majors, as well as the Dubai P1, taking place.

This European swingwill see new pairs make their debuts and others parting ways, while a thrilling battle will unfold for the No. 4. Local heroes from the Netherlands, Germany and Italy will also be looking to shine in front of their home crowds.

Rotterdam and Düsseldorf, stages for debuts and farewells

Five new teams will make their Premier Padel debuts on Tuesday as the Rotterdam P2 main draw gets underway. In the men’s draw, Enrique Goenaga and Guillermo Collado will be the highest-ranked new team (#14), just ahead of their former team-mates Manu Castaño and Pol Hernández respectively.

These four players made Round of 16 appearances at the FIP Platinum Lyon and will be looking to post strong results this week in order to qualify directly for the main draw of the next event (Germany P2) without having to go through qualifying. Meanwhile, Álvaro Montiel - Daniel Santigosa (#20) and Gonzalo Rubio - Andrés Fernández (#22) will begin new chapters together.

Rotterdam will also feature a new team inside the women's top eight: Claudia Jensen - Claudia Escacena, who will be the No. 8 seeds. Tamara Icardo, Jensen’s team-mate since the start of the year, will miss the tournament due to an injury. She will be replaced by 19-year-old Escacena, No. 58 in the FIP rankings, who earned an individual Lucky Loser spot to compete alongside Jensen, the Bordeaux P2 champion in July.

The Netherlands will also see three women’s teams go their separate ways: Sofía Saiz - Lucia Sainz (#12), Marta Talaván - Jessica Castelló (#13) and Noa Cánovas - Laia Rodríguez (#14). In Düsseldorf, Saiz and Talaván will reunite after previously playing together this year. Meanwhile, Castelló will team up with Rodríguez, Cánovas will join forces with Laura Luján and Sainz will compete alongside Letizia Manquillo.

Germany will also see five new men’s teams make their Premier Padel debuts after the split of Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini, former No. 9 team.

Garrido has partnered promising Juani De Pascual, while Bergamini will team up with Jairo Bautista, who reached the semi-finals at the Madrid P1. Íñigo Jofre will share the court with Juanlu Esbrí, while Javier Barahona and Ignacio Piotto will begin a new project together. Meanwhile, legendary Sanyo Gutiérrez will reunite again with Maxi Sánchez Blasco, with whom he has already played in 2026.

Fierce battle for the No. 4 spot

One of the major battles of the European tour will involve Paquito Navarro - Martín Di Nenno, Franco Stupaczuk - Jon Sanz and Mike Yanguas - Coki Nieto, who will all be fighting to reach the decisive stages of the season as the No. 4 team on Premier Padel.

Holding this position brings several advantages at tournaments, including avoiding a meeting with one of the top three pairs of the ranking before the semi-finals and starting the P2 events directly in the Round of 16.

Navarro - Di Nenno will enjoy these privileges in Rotterdam after reaching the semi-finals of the Paris Major, having defeated Stupa - Sanz in the quarter-finals. The latter, however, will be the No. 4 team in Düsseldorf after finishing runner-up at the FIP Platinum Lyon last weekend, earning 180 points each.

That means Stupa - Sanz will have 11,346 points at the Germany P2, just 39 more than Navarro - Di Nenno’s 11,307 following the latest rankings update.

The results both achieve this week in Rotterdam, as well as the performance of Coki Nieto - Mike Yanguas (#6), will determine which pair heads to Milan as the No. 4 seed. This is because each team’s position in the main draw of every tournament is officially confirmed on the Monday before the start of qualifying, based on the latest weekly FIP rankings update.

World Cup qualifiers heroes return home

Both Dutch and German padel are celebrating after their respective national teams qualified for the final stage of the FIP World Cup, which will take place in Qatar from 2 to 7 November. The Netherlands qualified in the men’s category, while Germany secured qualification in both draws, joining Great Britain as the winners of the FIP World Cup Qualifiers Europe held in Madrid last weekend.

Julian Prins, Youp De Kroon and Sten Richters will be the leading Dutch representatives at the Rotterdam P2 after helping their country secure its World Cup qualification by winning their matches in the final against Belgium.

Prins and De Kroon are the two highest-ranked Dutch players in the FIP rankings (#124 with 498 points). Richters (#128), meanwhile, will compete on home soil alongside Sweden’s Albin Olsson (#168). Both teams have received the two men’s draw Wild Cards.

Meanwhile, Marcella Koek (#82), the highest-ranked Dutch player, and Stephanie Weterings (#143) will be the Netherlands’ leading representatives in the women’s main draw.

In Germany, local heroes Lena Pluemer and Katharina Hering, who won the decisive match to secure their ticket to Qatar against Denmark’s Alipieva and Ferrigno (6-0, 6-2), will represent Germany in Düsseldorf after receiving a Wild Card.

The local representatives in the men’s main draw will be Agustín Reca (#355), who will compete alongside Spain’s Víctor Tur (#169), and Johannes Lindmeyer (#576) - Matthias Wunner (#619), who will share the court. All three were part of the German men’s squad that secured qualification for the World Cup by defeating Great Britain.

In Milan, where Fernando Belasteguín played his final match as a professional in 2024, Italy will boast a strong presence of players established at the top level of Premier Padel.

One of them will be Giulia Dal Pozzo, the highest-ranked Italian player in the FIP rankings (#26) and one of the underdogs of the season. Last June, she made history in Rome by becoming the first Italian player to reach the semi-finals of a Major, and she is now battling for a place at the Finals alongside her team-mate Nuria Rodríguez. She and Carolina Orsi (#30), who recently reached the quarter-finals of the Paris Major alongside Patty Llaguno, will be the leading Italian representatives in the women’s draw at the Milan P1.

The same role in the men’s draw will be played by Enzo Jensen (#41). The 20-year-old will team up with Spain’s David Gala. In April, he produced the best result of his career so far by reaching the quarter-finals of the Newgiza P2 after defeating Juan Lebrón - Leo Augsburger (7-6, 3-6, 6-0), the No. 3 seeds.

He will be joined in the main draw by Flavio Abbate (#50), quarter-finalist at the Madrid P1, and Álvaro Montiel (#56), three-time FIP Silver champion this season (Bangkok, Alcalá de Guadaira and Ayia Napa).

Building momentum for the season finale

These three European stops will be important to building momentum ahead of the decisive three events of the season in Kuwait, Dubai and Acapulco, where the No. 1 and the participants at the Finals will be decided.

Arturo Coello - Agustín Tapia will look to maintain their excellent form after making a statement by winning the Paris Major. The FIP No. 1s defeated Ale Galán - Fede Chingotto (6-3, 4-6, 7-6) in a final for the sixth consecutive time, extending their lead in the FIP Race to 2,540 points.

Gemma Triay - Delfi Brea also head into the tour in a comfortable position. The recent Madrid P1 champions were beaten in the semi-finals at Roland Garros, but the quarter-final exit of their closest challengers, Bea González - Paula Josemaría, means their lead in the Race now stands at 5,640 points.
