The CUPRA Costa Daurada Tarragona Premier Padel P1 is set to break new ground from July 28 to August 3, bringing world-class padel to the city of Tarragona for the first time in over a decade. As the 14th tournament of the 2025 season and the sixth P1 event on the calendar, it also marks the final stop before the August break.

The event takes place at the Palau d’Esports Catalunya, a modern indoor venue located in Tarragona’s Olympic ring.

Coello & Tapia Look to Complete Their Spanish Collection

Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia have been the dominant force on Spanish soil, lifting six Premier Padel trophies in the country as a duo. Yet, a title in Catalonia remains elusive after their upset loss in the 2024 Finals in Barcelona. In Tarragona, they arrive riding a wave of momentum with three consecutive titles and only one defeat since May.

Chasing them in the Race are Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto, who remain within striking distance following their Italy Major win. If Coello & Tapia slip early and Galán & Chingotto go all the way, the No.2 seeds could take the lead in the FIP Race Ranking before Madrid.

The tournament will also see the debut of several highly anticipated new pairings. Martín Di Nenno and Leo Augsburger team up for the first time in Tarragona, combining the Argentine’s consistency with the explosiveness of one of the tour’s most promising young talents. Pablo Cardona and Juan Tello also begin their journey as a pair, bringing together raw power and aggression in a partnership that promises fireworks from the very start. Both duos will aim to find stability in the final stretch of the season and build results that position them well for the sprint toward the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Finals.

Meanwhile, Momo González and Edu Alonso reunite due to their partners’ injuries—ironically in the same week they debuted as a pair in 2024. Also making headlines is young Argentine Maxi Arce, who continues his Premier Padel journey in the qualifiers alongside Mario Huete after an impressive debut in Málaga.

A Shifting Landscape in the Women’s Draw

In the women’s field, former world No.1 Ariana Sánchez returns to her home region. The Reus native and her partner Paula Josemaría aim to bounce back after two consecutive quarter-final exits—an unprecedented slump for the top seeds in Premier Padel. Still No.1 in the rankings, they must fend off a surging Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea, who are within one round of overtaking them.

Should both pairs reach the final, the title would decide the new No.1 duo. But the road is treacherous: Sánchez & Josemaría could meet Alejandra Salazar and Martina Calvo in the quarters, while Triay & Brea may have to get past Ortega & Icardo and the in-form Claudia Fernández & Bea González—who arrive fresh from fulfilling Bea’s dream of winning in Málaga.

Elsewhere, Marta Ortega and Tamara Icardo look to build on their recent final in Málaga, and Sofía Araújo & Andrea Ustero hope to find consistency after a rollercoaster start to their partnership.

From high-stakes battles for the No.1 spot to emotional farewells—like the final appearance of long-time partners Noa Cánovas and Jimena Velasco—the Tarragona P1 promises intensity, history, and a glimpse at padel’s future.
