The second day of the main draw at the Buenos Aires Premier Padel P1 confirmed what the crowd at Parque Roca had been waiting for: the arrival of the tournament’s biggest stars. With the top men’s seeds making their debut and the women’s opening round reaching its conclusion, Wednesday delivered a full showcase of elite-level padel, played in front of packed stands that continue to define Argentina as one of the sport’s true epicentres.

On a day where expectation met execution, Argentina’s leading names stepped onto court and delivered with authority. Agustín Tapia, alongside Arturo Coello, opened their campaign with a controlled 6-3, 6-3 win over Javier Valdés and Renzo Núñez, setting the standard early on Center Court. Not long after, Martín Di Nenno, partnering Jerónimo González, followed with a commanding 6-3, 6-1 victory against José Antonio Diestro and Maxi Sánchez, underlining the depth of Argentine representation in the draw.

The intensity lifted further as Franco Stupaczuk and Miguel Yanguas were pushed into one of the most competitive matches of the day, eventually overcoming Juan Ignacio Rubini and Maxi Sánchez Agüero 6-2, 4-6, 6-1. By contrast, the closing stages delivered drama of a different kind, as Leandro Augsburger and Juan Lebrón edged past Santigosa Sastre and Sintes Villalonga in two tie-breaks, showcasing both composure and firepower in key moments.

The night session maintained that level. Federico Chingotto and Alejandro Galán were tested early, taken to a first-set tie-break by Hernández Quesada and Jensen Sirvent, before raising their level to close the match 7-6, 6-0. It was a reminder that even the top seeds must adapt quickly in Buenos Aires, where conditions and crowd energy can shift momentum in an instant.

Off the court, the event continued to draw high-profile attention. Football icon Martín Palermo was among the notable figures in attendance, joined by other well-known names from the sport, reinforcing padel’s growing cultural crossover in Argentina.

In the women’s draw, the first round reached its conclusion with several standout performances on Center Court. Aranzazu Osoro and Victoria Iglesias produced a solid 6-4, 6-2 win over Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga, while Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen secured a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Anna Cortiles and Marta Arellano. With the opening phase now complete, the focus shifts to a decisive next stage.

Thursday will mark a pivotal moment in the tournament. Both draws move into the Round of 16, while the women’s top four seeds make their long-awaited debut, headlined by Delfina Brea and Gemma Triay. With the level already rising match by match, Buenos Aires now enters the phase where margins tighten and contenders begin to separate from the rest.
