Over 13,000 fans packed the iconic Mary Terán de Weiss Stadium on Friday for a spectacular day of quarter-final action at the Buenos Aires Premier Padel P1, setting the stage for a blockbuster semi-finals line-up. The world’s top four pairs in both the men’s and women’s draws will now battle it out for a place in Sunday’s final.

With another sell-out crowd expected, Saturday’s action gets underway at 1pm local time as Bea González and Paula Josemaría (#2) take on Ariana Sánchez and Andrea Ustero (#3). Bea and Paula, winners of the last four Premier Padel tournaments, booked their place in the semi-finals with a 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 victory over Alejandra Alonso and an emotional Alejandra Salazar, in what marked the legendary Spaniard’s final professional appearance in Argentina.

Sánchez and Ustero advanced in far more commanding fashion, cruising past Ortega-Calvo 6-0, 6-2. The pair have dropped just four games all tournament and are now targeting their third final of the season – something they have not achieved since Gijón on 1 March.

In the other half of the women’s draw, world No.1s Gemma Triay and the hugely popular Delfi Brea will face Sofia Araújo and Claudia Fernández (#4). The Portuguese-Spanish duo came from a set down to defeat Icardo-Jensen 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 and reach their third consecutive semi-final. Triay and Brea, meanwhile, arrive fresher after progressing via walkover following the withdrawal of Lucía Martínez and Águeda Pérez due to injury.

'CHINGALÁN' AIM TO KEEP MOMENTUM AGAINST 'EL LOBO' AND AUGSBURGER

The men’s semi-finals session will begin not before 5pm local time, with world No.1s Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia aiming to maintain their perfect run of finals appearances this season. The Spanish-Argentine pair eased past Bautista-Campagnolo 6-2, 6-2 on Friday, while their semi-final opponents Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas (#3) are hoping to reach their second final of 2026. The pair were pushed much harder in the quarter-finals, battling for more than two hours to overcome García-Jiménez 7-6(6), 6-3.

The standout clash of the day will close the semi-finals schedule, as Alejandro Galán and Fede Chingotto (#2) face Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger (#4). Galán and Chingotto – the most successful pairing of 2026 with four titles from seven tournaments – produced another outstanding display to beat the ever-dangerous Jon Sanz and Coki Nieto 6-1, 7-6(6). Meanwhile, ‘El Lobo’ and Augsburger showcased their power and shot-making to defeat Paquito Navarro and Fran Guerrero 6-3, 6-2, earning the chance to fight for a third final together as a pair.

EMOTIONS RUN HIGH IN LAMPERTI TRIBUTE

Friday also featured an emotional tribute to the legendary Miguel Lamperti, who was moved to tears by a standing ovation from more than 13,000 fans bidding farewell to the Bahía Blanca native. Lamperti stepped onto centre court following the second men’s quarter-final to address the Argentine crowd – his crowd – in what, at the age of 47, has been his final Premier Padel appearance on home soil.
