Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger saved two match points during a dramatic comeback against Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto, while Málaga favourite Bea González moved within one victory of defending her hometown title alongside Paula Josemaría at the Andalucía Málaga Premier Padel P1.
Lebrón and Augsburger recovered from a set and a break down to defeat Galán and Chingotto 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(7) and book a meeting with defending champions Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia.
Galán and Chingotto dominated the opening set and moved 3-1 ahead in the second, with their opponents struggling to find either their rhythm or their usual energy. The match then changed completely. Lebrón raised his intensity, Augsburger began to impose his power and five consecutive games sent the contest into a decider.
The third set culminated in a remarkable tie-break. Lebrón and Augsburger raced into a 5-0 lead before Galán and Chingotto won five straight points and later earned two match points. The third seeds saved both and converted their first opportunity to close out the tie-break 9-7 and reach their third final of the season.
Coello and Tapia won with a more controlled 6-4, 6-3 victory over Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno. The sixth seeds competed closely for long periods, but the world No.1s were sharper at the decisive moments to secure their 27th consecutive final.
In the women’s draw, Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea ended Martina Calvo and Marta Ortega’s partnership with a 6-0, 6-4 victory. After dominating the opening set, the world No.1s resisted a stronger response from their opponents to advance in straight sets. Calvo will join Claudia Fernández in Pretoria, while Ortega will team up with Sofía Araujo.
González and Josemaría then delighted the Martín Carpena crowd by defeating new pairing Marina Guinart and Alejandra Alonso 6-2, 6-2. González thrived on the support of her home fans, playing aggressively at the net as Josemaría controlled the tempo alongside her.
Sunday’s final will be the seventh title match this season between the two leading women’s pairs. González and Josemaría have won five of the previous six and are chasing their seventh title of 2026, while Triay and Brea will compete for their fourth crown of the year and their first at P1 level.
