History, tension, and a sold-out Plaza Mayor defined semi-final Saturday at the Oysho Valladolid Premier Padel P2. With nearly 5,000 fans packing the stands, the men’s draw delivered its biggest storyline yet: Juan Lebrón defeating former partner Ale Galán for the first time since 2019—the last time he won against him before becoming World No.1s together.
Juan Lebrón and Franco Stupaczuk produced a thrilling performance to defeat Fede Chingotto and Ale Galán 6-7, 6-4, 7-6 in one of the best matches of the tournament so far. It wasn’t just a win—it was a statement. For Lebrón, it marked his first triumph over Galán since a pre-partnership showdown in Valladolid back in 2019. Since then, the two had forged a dominant era together… but on Saturday, the script flipped.
With the match hanging in the balance, Lebrón and Stupa rose to the occasion in the third-set tiebreak, showing a mix of fire and control that proved too much for the No.2 seeds. The win sends them to their second final as a team—and perhaps their most meaningful yet.
On the other side of the draw, world No.1s Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia did their part to set up a blockbuster Sunday. In front of his hometown crowd, Coello shined once again, powering through Javi Leal and Fran Guerrero 6-4, 6-4. The reigning champions are now one win away from defending their title—this time in the heart of the city, on the court Coello always dreamed of.
In the women’s draw, Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría extended their dominant run with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win over Martina Calvo and Aranza Osoro. The top seeds move into their third final of the season—and after three runner-up finishes in Valladolid, Paula now has another shot at the title.
And there’s even more at stake: with Gemma Triay’s defeat in the semifinals, Ari and Paula will reclaim the No.1 spot in the FIP rankings if they win on Sunday.
Their opponents will be Bea González and Claudia Fernández, who advanced while leading 7-6, 3-1 when an injury forced Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea to retire. It will be the second meeting this season between the two pairs, but the first time with a Premier Padel title on the line.
The Stage Is Set
With finals scheduled for Sunday—women at 10:00, men at 12:00—the atmosphere at Plaza Mayor couldn’t be more electric. The city of Valladolid is ready to crown new champions… and perhaps witness another twist in padel’s evolving history.
